U10–U18+ · Level 1–3 · 7+ players · Length: standard · Video 0:38 min

Goal

Players learn to run closeouts and defend in outnumbered situations.

Setup

4 cones are positioned inside the three-point line, each occupied by an offensive player. The 3 defenders stand under the basket in a group.

Execution

The coach passes the ball to the first offensive player in the corner. The first defensive player runs a closeout to the corner. Before the offensive players pass to the next teammate, they must circle the ball once around their body – this gives the defense more time for the closeout. From the last pass into the corner, the offense can attack and try to score. The defense then tries to prevent this while outnumbered.
